EMPLOYMENT OVERVIEW

Emily L
Emily L. - Featured Student Artist
The School District of Menomonee Falls employs about 400 teachers and other professional staff, including specialists at all levels in areas such as music, art, physical education, library and media, and guidance.
Teachers here are dedicated to providing our students with not only the best possible educational experience, but are committed to instilling in them a sense of community and citizenship.

The School District of Menomonee Falls recognizes that in order to be an effective educator, one can never stop learning. The concept of a learning community, as well as recent research, emphasizes the importance of teacher learning that is focused on students, and inclusive of parents and community. Therefore, the District is committed to providing ongoing continuing professional development opportunities for all teachers and professional staff.

To that end, the teachers' union and administration formed the Joint Committee for Professional Development to help District teachers become the best educators they can be. As part of that effort teachers in the District are asked to develop a Personal Professional Development Plan, which illustrates their annual commitment to professional growth.

In addition, the Joint Committee for Professional Development also established the Professional Development Certificate. Any teacher with five years of District experience and a Master's Degree may earn a Professional Development Certificate. Those teachers who earn the Professional Development Certificate receive an additional $1,500 annually.

The School District of Menomonee Falls is also committed to the retention of new teachers and has established an award-winning mentoring program that has become a model for dozens of other Districts around the state. It is the mission of our mentoring program to provide support and encouragement for new staff; so they in turn will become the best teachers.

The dedication of our staff, however, extends far beyond the school day and classroom walls as many actively participate in coaching after-school sports or advising clubs, and other programs.

Many of our teachers are also active members of the greater Menomonee Falls community and volunteer their time to Village civic organizations such as the Optimist and Rotary Clubs. They serve as excellent models of the commitment to community service and ideals of citizenship that they incorporate into their daily classroom lessons.

While teachers in other parts of the state move from district to district in the course of their career, teachers in the School District of Menomonee Falls often spend their entire careers teaching children in Menomonee Falls
